Our team was appointed to remove two large alders as part of a planned shutdown for Scottish Power. Both trees stood close to the carriageway, with limited working space around the base, so we brought in our CMC S18F tracked spider lift to give precise, controlled aerial access into the crown of each tree.

Working from the platform, our climber sectionally dismantled each stem from the top down, taking the crown off in manageable sections before working down the trunk in controlled log lengths. The spider lift's narrow track base and outrigger footprint let us set up tight to the boundary fence line without damaging the verge, while a second team member managed road-side signage and fed material straight to the chipper truck on site.

What we did

  • Sectional dismantling of two large alders
  • Aerial access via CMC S18F tracked spider lift
  • Work coordinated within a Scottish Power shutdown window
  • On-site chipping and timber processing
  • Roadside traffic safety management throughout

"Working this close to live infrastructure on a fixed shutdown window leaves no margin for error. The spider lift gave us the precision to get both alders down safely and keep to Scottish Power's schedule throughout."
